Maybe you have – or are – a Gorgeous Grandma!
We’re not necessarily talking about a beautiful face, but someone who expresses their love through words of support and encouragement, acts of kindness, or just being there when you need them.
Little did I know that July 23 is Gorgeous Grandma Day.
You may think that this is just another greeting card holiday, but a quick check at my local greeting card shop didn’t result in any special greeting cards for the occasion.
Nope, it appears that this is a special day created for grandmas who want to stay young.
And, although I’m not a grandma yet, I’m interested in staying young – at least young at heart.
For this special day, I found a Grandmother’s Star quilt block to demonstrate in our weekly news.

In our recent survey, hundreds of you expressed interest in learning about how to make quilts using fat quarters.
We aim to please here at www.How-to-Quilt.com, so I have been gathering information and resources about fat quarters, and will be developing an online class.
In the meantime, I am putting together a webinar that will be live on Sunday, July 26 – beginning at 5pm Pacific Time.
This will include some great information about using fat quarters.
Among other topics, you’ll hear –
* how to cut fat quarter fabric
* how to choose a quilt block or quilt design (or at least my thought process in choosing a block)
* drafting the block templates without using computer software
* choosing the fabric – whether to use pre-packaged fat quarters or choose your own
* and much, much more
This should be an informative presentation accompanied by a lively discussion.
It will be both online and on the telephone, although I am developing the presentation so you can get most of the information online – and save any long distance charges your phone company might charge.
